Tip: Word 2003 save/copy/paste+ buttons disabled.

Recently a clients Word 2003 decided to start acting up. Most menu items not related to formatting were disabled. Starting Word in safe mode ("WINWORD.EXE /safe") re-enabled all options, but safe mode has some major limitations which prevent it from being used in a production environment. A quick google lead me to this help request. The solution provided worked.

To summarize, Word's "Normal.dot" template file broke. Deleting it fixed the problem.

Normal.dot is located in "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\". If you feel unsafe about deleting it(but it is safe), renaming it should have the same effect and it ensures you have a backup.
